Clay Lady May 3, 2019 View this post on Instagram Some of my favorite process pictures from a figure sculpting workshop this past autumn. Particularly fond of the skeleface for some reason 💀 Probs will post the “finished” one later. . . . . . . #skeleface #clay #figure #figuresculpture #livemodel #process #sculpture #terracotta #forfunsies #skull #art #artprocess #artist #sketch #3d A post shared by Dionis Carter (@dioni_macaroni) on Jan 12, 2019 at 9:00am PST View this post on Instagram I’m not a very good story teller. I’m not very practiced at telling stories to others. I am very good at telling myself stories. But that’s different, I guess. I’m a captive audience. Still, the hardest thing about it is that I want to tell stories, more than anything else. My stories, others’ stories, stories that I’m not sure where they came from... I have found that stories are much better when told by a great mental exhale. Natural, instinctive, expressive, these stories may not make sense in pieces, they may not look how you’d think, but they are the most compelling and flavorful— told as if the story was a dream. Strangely visceral. I can only seem to make stories like this. I used to be anxious about it, but now I feel quite lucky in my limitation. Still, it’s something I must keep practicing. ——— —— — — — — - - - - I don’t think these words have to do with this sculpture, though maybe I’m wrong. I guess I just felt like sharing. Seems silly to say that that’s a rare thing, as I post this to instagram, but it is. So I guess I’ll leave it with you. ——— —— — — — — - - - - Thank you @rickcasali for your instruction through the process of making this lady. If anyone has any interest in figure sculpture or taking figure workshops, definitely look at his page. It’s beautiful work.
