Aerothreads Branding Commissions

THE COOKIE BOX

“INGENUITY AND CREATIVITY, BRINGING US FROM MYTH TO MARS”

A commission by Aerothreads to create a promotional cookie gift box in 2019. Designed to celebrate and commemorate humankind’s millennia long dream of flight and continuing journey into space in honor of the 50th anniversary of the NASA Apollo 11 Moon landing.

The box itself is a seamless timeline that highlights crucial milestones in the history human flight and celebrates the role of human ingenuity and creativity in reaching them. The inside includes the dates and descriptions of the depicted events. The events were chosen, and then the scenes sketched, laid out, and mocked-up, before being hand painted with gouache to capture a classic sense of artistry. The painted panels were then scanned and digitally merged into the final box template.

The timeline is broken into two parts. Box timeline dates list left to right, down from the top; cookie event dates list left to right along bottom.

Accompanying the cookie box are designs for 6 cookies, commemorating an additional 6 milestone events. They are mock up structures, stylized illustrations for interpretation by a professional baker.

To read more about the depicted event, see the full timeline above or select one of the images below.

OTHER BRAND MATERIALS

IAC Tote FLYER

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) asked Aerothreads to design and prototype a commemorative tote for the 2019 International Astronautical Congress (IAC).

I was then asked to make a flyer outlining the meaning and elements of the the keepsake bag. It includes background into the inspiration behind the bag’s design, some the design samples that were put forward, draft style illustrations of the tote’s assets, and descriptions of the decorative elements and materials included in the bag.
